The SOTA PROCESS

Production

From sustainable European forests to your finished floor, every plank we produce is crafted with care, precision, and purpose. Our production process is a seamless blend of cutting-edge technology and hands-on expertise, resulting in wood floors that are as beautiful as they are bespoke.

Our certified European Oak is harvested from responsibly managed forests, then refined in our state-of-the-art facility using the latest machinery and expert techniques. Each floor goes through a meticulous 15-stage production process, beginning with raw logs and ending with a fully finished surface, ready for installation.

The Lab

Inside our on-site lab, artistry meets accuracy. Stocked with a wide range of unfinished European Prime and Rustic Oak, as well as 100% Fumed Oak, we’re able to offer quick-turn color matching with consistent, repeatable results.

Each custom sample is developed using the same weighted method and finishing process as final production, ensuring true-to-life previews of your custom floor. Typical sample turnaround is 10 working days.

Our 4 Step Process

Creating a custom floor with us is simple, but never one-size-fits-all. Our 4-step
process puts you in control of the look, feel, and finish, with expert guidance at every stage.

1. Choose Your Design

Select your ideal layout—from classic planks to custom patterns.

2. Choose Your Dimensions

Pick from available widths and lengths based on your chosen design.

3. Choose Your Grade

Available in Prime and Rustic grades—most options are in stock and ready for finishing.

4. Choose Your Finishes

Customize your texture, treatment, and sheen. We use UV-cured hardwax oil for a long-lasting protective layer. Finish options include Extra Matt, Matt, Satin, and Gloss.

We also offer custom color matching to bring your vision to life.

Torched Finishing

Our torched finishing technique is a signature process that adds dimension, depth, and artistry to your floors. Using a specially engineered machine, we apply consistent flame treatment to the long edges of each plank—highlighting the natural grain, textures, and movement within the wood.

Like fuming or smoking, this method reacts uniquely with the natural makeup of each board. Knots and wide grain areas burn at a different rate than denser wood, resulting in beautiful, organic variation across your floor.

Note: Torched finishing is exclusive to our plank flooring and applied only to the long edges.
